Peter Hepburn Fea

Peter Hepburn Fea (b. 1882) was the eldest son of John Garriock Fea and Margaret Gilbertson. He was born on 8th October, 1882, at Kelvin Bank, Junipergreen, Parish of Colinton, Scotland.

Peter married Ethel McInnes on 20th December, 1906, at the Commercial Hotel, Sandport Street, Leith. Ethel was born c1881, the daughter of Lachlan McInnes and Catherine Waters. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr Crean of the United Free Church. Peter and Ethel had three daughters:

  • Catherine Hilda Fea, born 2nd November, 1908, Edinburgh. Hilda married John (Jack) Grant in Edinburgh and they had one daughter, Hilary Grant. Hilary emigrated to Australia and was followed later by Hilda and Jack. Jack died first followed by Hilary in 2006 and Hilda in 2007
  • Ethel (Betty) Fea, born 3rd July, 1910, Edinburgh. Ethel married Alexander (Sandy) Campbell Dishon in Edinburgh on 6th January 1934. They had two sons. At the time of his death on 8th May 1969, Sandy was the Principal Lightkeeper at the Flannan Isles Lighthouse. Betty died on 26th July 2005.
  • Isabel Margaret (Elma) Fea, died in infancy, 6th February 1922.

Ethel on died 6th February, 1925.

Peter married widow Jane (Jeanie) Henderson McKay or Thomson on 2nd September, 1927. Jeanie was born c 1886 to Charles & Helen Ann McKay (previously Adams, nee Lawson). They were married by the minister of the Constitution St Congregational Church, Leith, at 22 East Preston Street, Edinburgh.

Peter and Ethel lived at 4 Union Street, Leith (1906); 10 Craighall Crescent, Leith (1925); Peter and Jeanie lived at 4 Cambridge Avenue, Leith (1927); Hermitage Park, Leith; and after Jeanie died on 17th November, 1946 Peter lived at 20 Beresford Gardens, Leith, (1956) with Hilda and Jack Grant.

Peter was a Mercantile Clerk/Shipping Clerk in 1910. By the time of his death he was referred to as a Retired Cashier.

He died 15th August, 1956 Leith Hospital, aged 73 years.
