William Charles Fea and Marie Quensell

William Fea (b. 8th March 1816) had an adventurous early life, leaving England in September 1837 at the age of 21 to spend some nine years in Peru.

He returned and married Marie Quensell, the daughter of Abrahard Quensell, on 20th June 1854 at St Pancras Old Church, London. William was living at St Pancras at the time, while Marie was living at St Margaret's, Canterbury in Kent. Marie was born in Hanover and the 1881 census for the household includes visitors from Germany. Her father had died prior to the marriage of William and Marie.

The witnesses to their marriage were Charles and Mary Fea. This is assumed to be William's father and sister, William's brother (Charles Fea) having emigrated to the US in 1837 following the bankruptcy of their father's business.

Willam and Mary had two sons and a daughter:

• Mary Jane Ellen Fea b. 11th July 1855

• William Charles Fea b. 18th October 1857 who married Frances Page

• Allan Fea b. 25th May 1860 who married Louisa Hallmark.

The family lived in the St Pancras area where their children were born

William's occupation when getting married was that of bookkeeper and similarly at the time of the birth of their first son it was described as merchant's clerk / bookkeeper. On the marriage certificate for this son in 1894, William who had died previously, is described at a commercial clerk / organist.

He died sometime between 1876, when he wrote a letter to his brother on occasion of his sixtieth birthday, and 1881 when Marie is described in the census as a widow.
