Josiah Sinclair Shurie was the third son of Barbara Slater Fea and Josiah Passmore Shurie.

He was born on 18 December, 1866 at Bridge Street, Kirkwall and moved to Trenton, Ontario with his parents in 1872. Josiah married (1) Mary Edna McGregor on 21 June 1899 in Smith Falls, Ontario. Mary was born in Smith Falls in 1878 and she died in 1916.

Josiah was a medical doctor. He was living in Vancouver in 1913 when his mother, Barbara, died and was unable to attend the funeral. (Source: Obituary of Barbara Fea)

Reg Shurie and Jess Clamp

They had two children:

• Reginald McGregor Shurie (1903-1976). Married Jessie Ferran Clamp (b1904, Liverpool, England; emigrated to Canada in 1910; d1989). No children.

• Margaret Maude Shurie (1907-1917)

On 26 December 1917 Josiah married (2) Margaret Jane Brooks. Margaret died in March 1933 and Josiah died in January 1954.
