James was born in 1830,  the third son of James Fea and Margaret Sinclair

He married Mary Kemp on 30th November, 1854, in Orphir, Orkney.  Mary was born c 1825 in Aberdeenshire, daughter of William Kemp and Maggie Michie.  She died 16th June, 1901, aged 76 years at the Ruah in Eday.

They lived in Rousay in 1855 and at  Eday in 1881.  James' occupation was Shepherd or Agricultural Labourer.

James and Mary had four children

• Mary  was born 10th July, 1855, in Rousay.  She lived at  Eday in 1881 when she was servant to David Gibson.  She died 18th June, 1909

• James Kemp   (1857 - 1901) migrated to USA and married Jemima Ross.

• William   (1865/6 - c.1898) migrated to USA and married Lucy Fenner.

• Margaret Sinclair  (1870 - 1952) married William Gray.

James died 2nd January, 1893 - aged 63 years
