John Drummond (c. 31st October 1802) was a son of William Drummond and Barbara Groat. He was with the family when they moved to Pharay.
John married Janet Reid (b. 18th July 1807) about 1826. Jane was the daughter of Henry Reid and Elizabeth Hercus. Her father was born in Westray and her mother in Papa Westray and they were living at Northhouse, Papa Westray in 1851.
John and Janet had nine children who were all born in Pharay:
The family were at the Bu in 1841 and the Ness thereafter. In 1861, John is described as a crofter of 33 acres. The occupations of sons John and Alexander at this time were given as fishermen. Of the older brothers and sisters, William was still at the Ness where he formed a separate household with his wife. He was also a fisherman.
Janet died at the Ness on 30th May 1864 and John died there on 27th April 1885. Both are buried in the Pharay kirkyard.
