Jane Grace Maclaurin was a daughter of Robert Campbell Maclaurin and Martha Joan Spence and born in Lerwick, Shetland on 15th November 1854.
The family emigrated to New Zealand and she and married Thomas Goodfellow about 1877. Thomas was born in Auckland on 6th December 1852 and the son of William Goodfellow and Anne Scott.
Jane and Thomas had six children who were all born in Auckland:

(Sir) William Goodfellow b. 26th May 1880 who married Irene Clarabella Chamberlin in 1913. Irene was the daughter of Ernest H Chamberlin. William and Irene had five sons and a daughter. Irene died in 1970 and in the subsequent year William married Edith Gwendoline Jessie Creagh, widow of his cousin Robert Maclaurin (son of William Gilbert Maclaurin and Catherine Cochrane Macky). He died in Auckland on 5th November 1974. See also a short biography.

Estelle (Elsie) Alexandra Goodfellow b. 1884 who married Henry Ernest Chamberlin in 1908. Elsie and Henry had family.

Campbell Maclaurin Goodfellow b. 1887 and died on 14th May 1910.

James Gordon Goodfellow b. about 1889 was a major with the 416th (Edinburgh) Field Coy., Royal Engineers and died on 23rd March 1918 at the age of twenty eight. He was awarded the Military Cross. He is buried in the Roclincourt Military Cemetery in France.

Eric Hector Goodfellow b. 1892. Eric was a lieutenant with the Royal Field Artillery and died in Iraq on 9th March 1916 at the age of twenty three. He was twice mentioned in despatches.
Thomas was a farmer at Alexandra, Waipa. He died in 1930 at Kawhia.
Jane died on 10th November 1947 and is buried at Waikaraka Cemetery, Auckland.
