Shetland Feas /
Magnus FeaMartha Fea and Robert Strong
Martha Fea (chr 6th December 1774) was one of the daughters of Magnus Fea and his third wife, Margaret Hay.
She married Robert Strong (b. 1765), the son of John Strong and Janet Calder from Virkie, Dunrossness. They had a large family:
-
Margaret Strong b. 1st October 1798, Lerwick who married her cousin Alexander Davidson Strong. Margaret
died in 1893 at St. Andrews, Fife.
-
Janet Strong b. 25th July 1801, Lerwick
-
Elizabeth Miller Strong b. 27th September 1802, Lerwick
-
Joan Strong b. 7th January 1804, Lerwick
-
Robert Strong b. 25th July 1805, Lerwick who married Jane Irvine. Robert and Jane had a daughter Robina Strong who was born in Dunrossness,
-
James Strong b. 16th December 1806, Lerwick
-
Martha Sinclair Strong b. abt.1813, England who stayed with her sister, Margaret Strong. She died in Edinburgh on 24th June 1889.
-
Charlotte Augusta Strong b. 17th September 1817, North Leith
From the place of birth of the children, the family appear to have left Lerwick, Shetland and moved to England. This could well have been the Hull area
where Fea relations had been established for some time.
The family moved back to Scotland and North Leith where Charlotte Strong was born.
Martha and three of her daughters appear in the 1841 census in South Leith.
