Kenneth was the first child born on the 15^th December, 1890 to Frank Reed and Charlotte Linklater.
He served his apprenticeship as a carpenter with a Roy Shute, was working on the West Coast at the outbreak of the First World War and enlisted shortly afterwards.

In 1920 he married Gladys Margaret Garden (1892 - 1962) (daughter of William Middleton & Isabella (Rose) Garden).
