Eric was born in 1908. On the 26th November, 1938 he married Valda May Smith.

They had three children:

• Roger Graham Linklater who married Celia Josephine Hammond.

• Denise Catherann Linklaterwho married Dennis Stewart Garfield

• Douglas George Linklater who married Robyn Virginia Petch
