George Hercus and Isabella Logie Duncan

George Hercus was born 16th June 1863 on Pharay. On 17th June 1887 he married Isabella Logie Duncan (from St. Margaret's Hope, Orkney) in North Leith, Edinburgh. Isabella was the daughter of Daniel Duncan and Barbara Budge, born 19th December1869. They had seven known children:

• Isabella Hercus, b. 1890 who married John Hay Robertson in 1918

• Margaret S. Hercus, b. about 1892 who married Alexander Reid McLeod in 1913, in Edinburgh.

• George Hercus, b. 1893

• John Hercus, b. 1895

• Barbara Budge Hercus, b.1898 who married Andrew Butlar Inglis in 1918

• Donald Hercus, b. 1900

• Jane Duncan (Jean) Hercus, b. 1902

George and Isabella evidently went to the Edinburgh area soon after their marriage as all of their children were born in Leith. George was a foreman and joiner with Lamb & Co. in Edinburgh. George died 13th August 1922 in Edinburgh.
