This is one of a series of photos taken from the boat going from Kirkwall to Rapness in Westray, along the west side
of Pharay. They were taken on a November morning when conditions were not ideal but they give a feeling for the position of
the houses on the island and their proximity to the sea.
The Pharay School lies on an elevated position in the centre of the island
by the road.
Doggerboat lies to the north and Hammar (no photo from the sea) to the south. Both again are close to the road. There is
no photo from the boat for Hammar.
