Ernest Albert Gray and Jane Amelia McAteer

Ernst Albert Gray was born on 26th June 1866 and the youngest of the children of William Gray and Eliza Jane Shields.

He married Jane Amelia McAteer in 1887 in Sydney. Jane was the daughter of Matthew McAteer and his wife Ellen.

Jane and Ernest had eight children:

• Alfred Bert Gray, born 1890 who married Myrtle Elliot Simpson (born 1891) in 1917. Alfred died in Sydney in 1968 and Myrtle on 2nd November 1987.

• Arthur T Gray, born 1892

• Ettie Lillian Gray, born 1894; died 1947, Glebe, NSW

• Alice Catherine Gray, born 1897 who married William Dennis Rochford in 1919. William died in Sydney in 1950 and Alice in 1965.

• Ernest A Gray, born 1902 and died the same year

• Mary Gray, born 1903

• Frank Gray, born 1905

• William Gray, died 1941, Sydney

The family lived and the children were born in the Glebe area of Sydney.

Jane died there 1946.
