John Taylor Gray and Bessie Simpson

John Taylor Gray was a farm servant at Castleton of Kincardine, Fordoun, Kincardineshire when he married Bessie Simpson, the daughter of a postman, Robert Elder Walker and Margaret Simpson, her parents subsequently marrying.

The marriage took place on 2nd January 1925 in the Parish Manse of the Church of Scotland in Fettercairn. John was a twenty two years old and Bessie, who worked as a shop assistant, was twenty one.

They had at least three sons.

Bessie died before John, who died in the Infirmary in Brechin on 22nd February 1982 at the age of seventy nine. He was living in Menmuir, by Brechin, at the time.
