James Drever and Jane Reid

James Drever (b. 13th November 1820) was the fifth of the nine children of Thomas Drever and Christian Drever. He was with the family at Holland in 1841.

He married Jane Reid (b. 2nd July 1825) from Blackpow in Eday on 6th February 1845. She was the daughter of James Reid and Jane Irvine.

They were at Blackpow in 1851 when James’s occupation was given as fisherman and shoemaker.

James and Jane are known to have had three children born in Eday:

• Jane Drever b. 11th April 1846

• Mary Drever b. 15th November 1848

• Barbara Drever b. 17th July 1852

The family subsequently left Eday.
