David Allan and Mary Muir

David Allan (b. 5th March 1866) was a son of James Allan and Christina Hourston. He emigrated to the US and married Mary Muir (b. 10th January 1865) in New York City on 19th September 1894.

Mary was also from Orkney but the island of North Ronaldsay. Her parents were Samuel Muir and Sibella Thomson.

They had three children, all born in Pennsylvania:

• Mabel Allan, born August 1895; died 1931 in Ridgefield, Fairfax Co., Connecticut.

• Edwin Muir Allan, born 14th September 1898 in Jermyn, PA who married Georgina Blair (b. 1901 in Kirkcudbright) in 1926 and had sons. Edwin died in Ridgefield on 2nd April 1953.

• Ella Allan, born 26th May 1906; died 1985 in Ridgefield.

David and Mary were in Carbondale, Lackawanna Co. Pennsylvania at the time of the 1900 census and in West Chester Co, New York in 1910. By 1920, they were in Ridgefield, Fairfax Co., Connecticut.

David died in Ridgefield in 1926 and Mary in 1960.
