Betsy Reid and James Scott Logie

Betsy Reid (b. 8th June 1879) was a daughter of Archibald Reid and Betsy Leslie. She was born at Bigging in Rackwick, Westray.

She married James Scott Logie (b. 21st July 1874) of Backarass, Westray in August 1900. James was the son of John Logie and Janet Gore.

Betsy and James had five children, the first two being born at Backarass and the others at Noup:

• Betsy Leslie Logie, born 20th December 1901

• Lillias Brims Logie, born 4th September 1903 and died on 23rd December 1982

• Jane Gore Logie, born 10th November 1905 who married David Thomson (b. 28th May 1896) from Vere, Rackwick in 1928. David was the son of John Thomson and Betsy Logie. Jane and David had family. Jane died on 8th October 1969 and David on 18th January 1982.

• Jemima Logie, born 10th January 1911

• John Logie, born 19th September 1914 and died on 23rd June 1936. He was twenty one.

James died on 29th April 1943. Betsy died in Pierowall on 27th August 1955.
