Thomas Leslie and Mary Pottinger

Thomas Leslie (b. 15th November 1858) was a son of Thomas Leslie and Barbara Kent from Airy, Westray.

He married Mary Pottinger (b. 22nd November 1853, a daughter of Thomas Pottinger and Catherine Drever.

Thomas and Mary had six children, the first of whom was born at Airy, those following at Cleat and the last at Sandquoy:

• George Leslie, born 23rd February 1878 who married Elizabeth Mary Tulloch (b. 4th June 1882) from Burndyke in 1898. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Tulloch and Jane Pottinger. They had family.

• Catherine Drever Leslie, born 27th July 1880 who married Thomas Rendall (b. 11th February 1872) on 26th December 1902. Thomas was a son of David Rendall and Betsy Pottinger of Stanegoe. They lived in Dalmeny.

• Barbara Kent Leslie, born 20th June 1882 who married John Reid Sandison (b. 7th November 1872) in December 1901. John was the son of Seatter Sandison and Elizabeth Mowat. He died on in Pierowall on 17th November 1907 at the age of thirty five.

• Jemima Drever Leslie, born 11th July 1886 who married John L Stout in January 1915. John was the son of George Stout and Mary Hutchison.

• Thomas Pottinger Leslie, born 28th December 1888; died 1st March 1889

• Thomas Pottinger Leslie, born 12th April 1892

Thomas was a farmer.

Mary died at Airy on 16th April 1921.
