Isabella Gullion and William Maxwell

Isabella Gullion was the youngest known child of John Gullion and Mary Harcus, born about 1841 on Eday. She was living with her parents at Brinbanks in 1861 but then moved to Edinburgh and entered domestic service. She married William Maxwell, a ploughman, in Edinburgh on 29th November 1867. William was the son of Peter Maxwell, a farmer and Barbara Sinclair, born in Stronsay about 1845. They had four known children:

• Peter Maxwell, b. 4th Jan 1869 in the Currie Parish of Edinburgh

• John Maxwell, b. 14th Dec 1872

• Mary Maxwell, b. 18th Sept 1874 in Edinburgh

• John Maxwell, b. abt 1876 in the Leith Parish of Edinburgh

William became a coal merchant in Edinburgh. Isabella died in the Canongate district of Edinburgh on 28th May 1923, at age 80. William had predeceased her.
