Ann Harcus and William Harcus

Ann Harcus (c. 25th December 1830) was a daughter of John Harcus and Jane Scollay.

She married William Harcus (b. 7th July 1841) on 30th August 1861. William was the son of Andrew Harcus and Margaret Reid of Dogtou. Both were working at Tuquoy at the time.

They were at Tuquoy with their four children in 1871:

• Robert Harcus, born 15th June 1863 who married Jane Seatter

• Jessie Harcus, born 20th March 1865; died 20th February 1896 at Tuquoy

• John Harcus, born 10th June 1867; died 11th March 1893 at Tuquoy

• William Harcus, born 5th March 1869. He married Maggie Horne (b. abt. 1870) at Newington, Edinburgh on 22nd March 1893. He died in Leith on 18th October 1940. The death register indicates that William married a second time, his second wife being Helen McDowell or Watters.

Ann died at Tuquoy on 24th March 1895 while William died at Furglet on the Westside on 16th January 1920.
