Johanna Harcus and Robert Sinclair

Johanna Harcus (b. abt. 1840) was a daughter of Robert Harcus and Margaret Shearer of Luan, Eday.

She married Robert Sinclair at Luan, Rendall in the West Mainland of Orkney on 1st June 1865. Robert (b. 6th September 1836) was the son of John Sinclair and Margaret Peace.

Johanna and Robert had four children who were all born in Eday:

• Robert Sinclair, born 20th July 1866; died 26th September 1916, Sandhill.

• David Sinclair, born 4th July 1868 who married Jane Adam Paterson (b. 16th October 1876) in Eday in 1902. Jane was a daughter of William Ronald Paterson and Barbara Catto Esslemont of Damside. Jane died on 2nd December 1923 and David on 23rd April 1950 in Eday.

• William Sinclair, born 3rd June 1870; died 19th June 1897, Sandhill

• John Sinclair, born 22nd September 1872; died 21st May 1898, Eday

They lived at Sandhill.

Robert died on 22nd December 1924 and Johanna on 15th December 1929.
