Jane Fleming Allan and John Inkster

Jane Fleming Allan was born to John Allan and Christina Bews of Shapinsay on 1st Apr 1868. In 1889 she gave birth to a son:

• Alexander Swanney, b. 14th July 1889 at Pictou, Shapinsay. His father was Peter Swanney, a farm servant residing at Burnside, Stromness. Alexander was raised by Jane's parents. He married Mary Jane Russell, daughter of John Russell and Maggie Harper, on Shapinsay 7th July 1908.

Jane married John Inkster, a farm servant of Hilton, Shapinsay, on 28th February 1895. John, son of John Inkster and Betsy Inkster, was born about 1865. John and Jane had at least one child, a son named John Inkster, born about 1897. The family was living at Hilton in 1901. Jane died at Cursiter, Firth, on 24th December 1934.
