Zoe Dorothy Linklater

Zoe Dorothy was born on the 25th March, 1907 at Solomontown, Port Pirie.

Zoe was only small in stature, but was strong minded, no nonsence, unpretentioous type of person.

She married Algernon Norman on 16th July, 1927 in the Methodist Manse, Semaphore Road, Semaphore. Algernon was the son of Abraham John and Sarah Jane (Jacob) and was born on the 7th April, 1897 at Mount Gambier.

According to the marriage certificate, Algernon was a Motor Trimmer and living at Sandwell Street, Peterhead.

Algernon had been married before to Gladys Redman (of the Coonawarra Redmans) and they had two boys. Gladys died suddenly. They were living at Albert Street, Payneham. Before Zoe's marriage, she was living in Bakewell Road, Evandale just around the corner from Algernon, so she may have been brought in to help look after Algernon's two small boys.

He walked out on Zoe and the family and returned to live in Victoria. Zoe never got over her husband leaving and she wouldn't move house or go on holiday in case he came back and he wouldn't be able to find her.

There were six children.
