Joseph Benston and Susan Faulds

Joseph Benston was the youngest son of Adam Benston and Grace Gullion. He was born April 1853 in Wisconsin. On 25th March 1879 he married, probably in Buffalo County, Susan R. Faulds. Joseph and Susan had nine children, one of whom died in infancy or childhood and is not known. Their eight known children are:

• William J. Benston, b. July 1884, Wisconsin

• Jennie Benston, b. July 1886, Wisconsin

• Jennett Benston, b. Aug 1889, Washington

• Susan Benston, b. May 1891, Washington

• Edith Benston, b. Jan 1893, Washington

• Ralph H. Benston, b. Mar 1899, Washington

In 1880 Joseph and Susan were living with Joseph's brother Thomas and Joseph worked in a mill. In the late 1880s the family moved to Pierce County, Washington where Benston and Gullion relatives had been living for many years. Two of Joseph's half brothers had settled there in the mid-1800s. Joseph became a merchant grocer. He died in the 1920s at age 72 in Tacoma, Washington.
