Isabella Gray and James Foulis

Isabella Gray, the daughter of David Gray and Ann Harcus, married James Foulis on 19 December 1916 in Kirkwall. James had been married previously to Isabella's older sister, Ann Gray, who had died the previous year.

They had no children together. Isabella died on 1st March 1937 and was buried in Papay where she has a memorial stone in St. Boniface. She had inherited Quoyola from her father and her Will left her property to her husband and to her nieces and nephews.

James lived then for a while with his daughter Ann and nephew/son-in-law William at their farm in Holm. When his sister Betsy Foulis was widowed and his daughter died he moved in with her at her home in Swanbister, Orphir about 1939/40. He died there on 13 February 1944, age 83.
