Betty Thelma Parton and Frederyk Stefan Stanley Musial

Betty Thelma Parton (b. 1928) was the youngest of the three children of Harry Parton and Phyllis Smith.

Betty married Frederyck Stefan Stanley Musial in St Clements Church, Marrickville, Sydney on 28th April 1951. Frederyk was born in Oksa, Poland on 11th January 1921, the son of Wincenty Musial and Zofia Adamczyk.

When Frederyk was eighteen, in 1939, World War II began, and the Russians invaded Poland. Frederyk was caught by the Russian army trying to escape Poland through Czechoslovakia and sent to a concentration camp in Siberia. Stalin allowed the Poles their freedom two years later in 1941 when Germany invaded Russia, and Polish prisoners were freed as well. Frederyk made his way to Persia (Iran) and subsequently Iraq, then arrived in England in 1943 where he enlisted in the Polish Division of the Royal Air Force. He was a gunner and radio operator on Lancaster bombers, and rose to the rank of sergeant.

Following the end of the war and demobilisation, he emigrated to Australia and arrived in Sydney on 10th August 1948.

Betty and Frederyk had three children:

  • Frederick Steven Musial b. 1952, Darlinghurst, NSW
  • Tony Leslie Musial b. 1955, Sydney
  • Kim Irene Musial b. 1967, Sydney

Frederyk died in Enfield, Sydney on 29th March 1969.
