Introduction / Families / Drever / William Drever and Barbara Shearer / Thomas Drever and Margaret Thomson David and Margaret DreverDavid Drever (c. 29th November 1835) and Margaret Drever (c. 3rd March 1851) were the oldest and youngest of the four children of Thomas Drever and Margaret Thomson. They moved to Ramsay from nearby Whitlet with their parents sometime between 1861 and 1871 and were to spend the rest of their lives there. Their brother, John Drever, formed a separate household at Ramsay with his wife, Catherine Seatter, and their family. In the 1871 census, David is described as a farmer of 37 acres while the occupation of his younger brother, John, is given as farm labourer. Their parents are still alive and form part of the household with David and his sister. In 1881, David is employing two labourers. James Drever, his nephew and the son of John Drever, is part of the household in 1891 although his parents and younger sister are still at Ramsay forming a household of their own. David Drever died on 6th March 1924 at the age of eighty eight. His sister Margaret also died at Ramsay on 1st September 1937. She was eighty six. | |||
