James Spence and Ann Reid

James Spence (b. 17th November 1853) was the eldest son of James Spence and Christina Spence.

James married Ann Reid (b. 13th December 1852) and lived at Gullionha, Eday. She was the daughter of David Reid and Ann Miller. He was a crofter.

James and Ann had two children:

• James Spence, born 3rd December 1886 and died four days later

• David Spence, born 1889

James died at Gullionha on 17th January 1896 and Ann on 18th November 1918.
