Mary Spence and Robert Reid

Mary Spence (b. 25th October 1865) was a daughter of James Spence and Christina Spence from Crowbar.

She married Robert Reid (b. 13th February 1858) on 24th December 1886 at Crowbar. Robert was the son of David Reid and Ann Miller.

Robert was a shoemaker and the family were at Essonquoy in 1891.

Mary and Robert had two children:

• Robert Reid, born abt. 1888, Eday who married Margaret Ann Thomson (b. abt 1889). Margaret was the daughter of John Thomson and Margaret Ann Harcus. They had family.

• Barbara Spence Reid, born 1892, Eday who married John Rendall (b. abt 1879) in Kirkwall in 1912. John was the son of David Rendall and Margaret Cooper. He died in Eday on 1st February 1949 and Barbara on 8th July 1970.

Robert died on 20th June 1922 aged sixty four and Mary died almost thirty years later at Crowbar on 17th February 1951.
