Betsy Leslie Drever and Daniel Leslie

Betsy Leslie Drever (b. 7th December 1874) was a daughter of John Mainland Drever and Margaret Leslie of Piggar, Westray.

She married Daniel Leslie (b. 4th November 1867) of Swartaback, Westray in December 1894. Daniel was the son of John Leslie and Mary Drever. An elder brother of Daniel, John Leslie, was to marry Mary Groat from Lakequoy in Pharay.

Betsy and Daniel had eight children:

• John Leslie, born 2nd February 1896 who married Ann Scott Bremner (b. 23rd May 1897) in 1917. Ann was the daughter of John Bremner and Mary Pottinger, Hilldavale, Westray. John died in Aberdeen on 23rd March 1930.

• George Leslie, born 9th September 1897

• Maggie Elizabeth Leslie, born 10th May 1899

• Thomas Daniel Leslie, born 13th April 1902

• Mary Leslie, born 5th May 1904

• David Leslie, born 5th January 1907

• Adam Gunn Leslie, born 25th April 1909

• Betsy Leslie, born 14th November 1911

They lived in Pierowall where Daniel was a watchmaker.

Daniel died there on 3rd June 1912. He was forty four. Betsy died on 9th July 1948 at the age of seventy three.
