Introduction / Families / Leslie Henry Leslie and Jessie KentHenry Leslie and his wife, Jessie Kent, were at Holland, Pharay from about 1937 until 1943, having come originally from Westray. Henry was born at Benziecott, Westray on 15th February 1907, the son of Thomas Leslie and Betsy Stevenson. He was a second cousin of John and Robert Leslie who were also to come to Pharay around this time and had an ancestor who came from the island. (See Leslie Genealogy). Jessie was the daughter of Thomas Kent and Elizabeth Groat. She was born at Greenwall, Westray on 26th August 1907. They got married in Westray in 1934. Henry was a farmer and Jessie was a cook. They had two sons, the eldest being born on Westray shortly before they moved to Pharay and the younger in 1937. The family moved to Lopness, Sanday in 1943. Henry died on 5th November 1981 and Jessie on 5th January 1993. | |||
