Introduction / Families / Drummond / William Drummond and Barbara Groat

Isabella Drummond and Thomas Drever

Isabella Drummond (c. 28th December 1814) was the youngest of the children of William Drummond and Barbara Groat. She was born after her parents moved to Pharay.

She married Thomas Drever (b. about 1808) of Sangar, Westray and they were living there with their first two children by 1841. Thomas was the son of John Drever and Margaret Drever.

Isabella and Thomas had seven children:
  • Margaret Drever, born about 1838. She only appears in the 1841 census, aged three, and is taken to be their eldest child although that particular census did not indicate the relationships between those at a household.
  • David Drever, born 10th April 1843; died 15th May 1859, Westray
  • William Drever, born 29th November 1847 who married Elizabeth Miller and Mary Pottinger
  • Jean Drever, born 3rd May 1853; died 6th March 1884 at Sangar
  • Mary Stewart Drever, born 22nd April 1858; died 9th July 1898 at Sangar

Their youngest two daughters remained at Sanger with them. Jean predeceased them and Mary died shortly after her father.

Isabella died at Sangar on 30th October 1891 and Thomas on 10th March 1897.

Their son, William, formed a separate household at Sangar after he married and continued to live there after his parents had passed away.
