Introduction / Families / Drummond / William Drummond and Barbara Groat / Isabella Drummond and Thomas Drever / William Drever

William Drever (Driver) and Margaret Drever

William Drever (b. 6th July 1876) was a son of William Drever and Elizabeth Miller. In 1891, it is uncertain whether he was the fourteen year old cattleman at Clifton Bothy or possibly a servant at Hammer in Skelwick.

He emigrated to Racine, Wisconsin in 1898 and was subsequently to marry Margaret Drever (b. 6th January 1875).

Margaret was with her parents, John Drever and Jane Gray, at Helzie at the time of the 1901 census. She was then twenty six and her occupation was given as dressmaker.

Margaret emigrated in early 1902 and they married on 29th May.

They had a daughter:

  • Jane Gray Driver, born 3rd September 1903 in Racine. She died on 1st January 1904 and is interred in the Mound Cemetery, Racine.

The 1910 census included in addition William and Margaret, three of William’s younger brothers:

1910 – Racine, Wisconsin Age Immigrated
John Drever 22 years 1907
James Drever 18 years 1910
Thomas Drever 16 years 1910

In 1920, William Drever was a brass foundry moulder. The household then included his cousin, William Miller (age 28), who had emigrated in 1919.

They still lived in Racine in 1930. William died in February 1963.
