Elizabeth Margaret Drever and William Brown Rosie

Elizabeth Margaret Drever (b. 7th January 1879) was born at Sanger, Westray to William Drever and Elizabeth Miller.

She married William Brown Rosie (b. 27th July 1863) at Sangar on 13th April 1900. William was born in South Ronaldsay to shoemaker Robert Rosie and Isabella Brown.

Both Elizabeth and William were working at Weyland, St Ola at the time, Elizabeth being a domestic and William a farm servant.

At the 1901 census, they were staying at Crantit Cottage, St Ola along with their first child.

They had two children:

  • Catherine Elizabeth Rosie, born about December 1900 who married John Muir (b. about 1904) on 24th April 1929. John was the son of grocer Alfred Muir and Annie Hutchison and was a millwright at the time. John died on 12th February 1950, aged forty five. Catherine died on 28th October 1980.
  • William Rosie, born 1902 who went to Australia

Elizabeth died in 1902.

William remarried the following year in South Ronaldsay. His second wife was Isabella Cumming Norquoy (b. about 1881). He was a merchant’s storeman when his daughter got married in 1929. William died on 23rd November 1942 and Isabella on 1st November 1950.
