Christina Harcus and John Reid

Christina Harcus (b. 17th May 1867) was a daughter of James Harcus and Sarah Harcus.

She was brought up at Dykeside, Eday and married John Reid in Eday on 21st January 1886. John (b. 18th October 1858) was a son of Robert Reid and Jane Peace from Sillerha.

They had one surviving child:

• Robert Reid, born 13th October 1888 in Harbour St., Kirkwall. He is thought to have died on 6th June 1942.

John died at Sillerha on 15th October 1890 and is buried in the Old Kirkyard in Eday.

Christina remarried in Edinburgh in on 5th January 1894. Her second husband was foundry labourer Samuel Brockie or Brown. He was the daughter of Grace Brown. Christina and Samuel were both living at No 6 Parson’s Green Terrace, Edinburgh at the time.

She died in George Sq., Edinburgh on 18th May 1946 although her usual residence at the time was in Waverley Park. She was seventy nine.
