Robert Miller (b. 5th March 1856) was the eldest of the children of Robert Miller and Christina Harcus at Sandybank.
He married Jessie Ann Sandison (b. 21st January 1854, Stronsay) at North Faray House on 12th February 1879. Jessie was the daughter of Thomas Sandison and Margaret Goar.
They subsequently stayed at Sandybank and had six children:

Robert William Sandison Miller, born 13th December 1879 who married Margaret Ann Allan (b. 28th September 1872) on 25th March 1903. Margaret was the daughter of John Allan and Sibella Tulloch. They stayed at nearby West Newbigging in the West Side. Robert died at Newbigging on 7th December 1954 and Margaret on 15th May 1961 in Kirkwall.
- Thomas Miller, born 18th February 1881 who married (1) Jessie Sutherland Baisley and (2) Wilhelmina Swannie
- James Omand Miller, born 20th November 1886 who married Jane Johnstone on 22nd December 1909 in Cavers, Roxburgh. He was a police constable and is understood to have been married twice. He died on 7th December 1953 in the Old Monklands district, Lanark.
- Margaret Jane Harcus Miller, born 25th March 1888 and married John William Tulloch (b. 1886) in Eday on 29th August 1910. John was the son of Thomas Taylor Tulloch and Sarah Swanney, Easthouse. They had family. Margaret died on 15th September 1963 and John on 30th May 1968 and both are buried in the New Kirkyard.
- John Harcus Miller, born 12th July 1891 and married Margaret Smith Scott in Eday in 1911. Margaret was born in Sanday on 26th July 1877 and the daughter of William Traill Scott and Mary Flett. John and Margaret lived at Sandybank and had three sons. John died on 8th November 1953 and Margaret on 10th March 1957.
- William Miller, born 10th September 1894. He was killed in France on the Somme on 12th October 1916.
Robert died on 25th September 1918 and Jessie on 25th January 1935. They are both buried in the Old Kirkyard, Eday.
