Introduction / Families / Sinclair / Mary Sinclair and William Harcus / Robert Harcus Christina Harcus and Robert MillerChristina Harcus (b. 25th October 1831) was a daughter of Robert Harcus and Margaret Shearer. She was brought up with the family at Luan, Eday and married Robert Miller from Greenenave on 8th November 1855. Robert was the son of Robert Miller and Barbara Omand and born on 28th March 1832. Christina and Robert had seven children, six of whom were born in Eday:
They stayed at Sandybank, in the West Side of Eday. Robert was a carpenter in 1861 and in subsequent censuses was variously boat carpenter and crofter. For a short time during the 1860s, they stayed at Luan, Rendall in the West Mainland of Orkney and it was in Rendall that their fifth child was born. The family subsequently moved back to Sandybank. Christina and Robert’s son, James Miller, formed a separate household at Sandybank when he married. Following the death of Robert’s father at Greenenave in 1885, he and Christina moved there. Christina died on 8th September 1913 back at Sandybank. Robert died on 15th February 1921 at Greenenave. | |||
