Christina Miller and James Shearer

Christina Miller (b. 8th October 1865) was a daughter of Robert Miller and Christina Harcus. She was born in Rendall and returned with the family to Sandybank in Eday.

Christina married James Shearer (b. 14th February 1855) in Eday on 7th December 1887. James was the son of George Shearer and Helen Reid from Manseboat, Eday.

They lived at Manseboat and had three children:

• James Shearer, born 19 April 1888; died 1989.

• Robert Shearer (twin), born 12th May 1891 who married Robina Reid on 28th November 1919 in Eday. Robina was born in 1899 and the daughter of James Reid and Jane Harcus Muir. Robert and Robina had family. Robina died on 27th February 1979 in Kirkwall and Robert on 3rd September 1988.

• David Hourston Shearer (twin), born 12th May 1891. He died in the US.

James died the following year on 23rd December 1892.

Christina died on 15th November 1947 at Kilbirnie, Ayrhshire. The informant was her son, James Shearer.
