Margaret Rousay and William Reid

Margaret Rousay (b. 9th July 1866) was the eldest daughter of Robert Rousay and Margaret Harcus. She was brought up at Rowa, Eday and ten years old when her mother died.

She emigrated to Yorkton, Saskatchewan with her father and younger siblings Peter and Jane in 1891. Her brother Robert Rousay had emigrated there two years previously.

Margaret married William Reid in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on 5th April 1893. William was born on Eday on 14th April 1867 and was the son of James Reid and Isabella Omand. He had emigrated to Assinaboia, East Qu’Appelle in 1882.

Margaret and William had five children:

• Margaret Isabella Reid, born 28th March 1894 who married Thomas William Kearney in June 1926. Margaret died at Mousejaw, Saskatchewan on 8th July 1992.

• Rosetta Jane Reid, born 13th January 1896 who may have died in Whitewood in 1906.

• William Reid, born 8th September 1898 who married Nora Katerine Armstrong in October 1930. William died on 25th April 1977.

• Myrtle Mary Elizabeth Reid, born 25th September 1903 who married Charles F Laine. Myrtle died in 1984.

• Ruby Roberta Reid, born 21st September 1905 and married William Clifford McIntosh.

The family lived in Whitewood, Saskatchewan.

Margaret died there on 18th April 1941 and William on 8th May 1959.
