Introduction / Families / Reid / Elizabeth Reid and James Allan Ann Allan and John GullionAnn Allan (b. 27th March 1828) was a daughter of James Allan and Elizabeth Reid. She married John Gullion at her home at North Pharay, Eday on 23rd November 1855 John was a son of John Gullion and Mary Harcus and baptised on Eday on 8th October 1830. Ann and John had four children, all born on Eday:
Ann's and John's marriage record includes the notation that they are second cousins. John's parents were first cousins, as his grandmothers, Isabella Allan and Marion Allan (who married James Harcus) were sisters. Ann's paternal grandfather, David Allan, was their brother. John and Ann lived at Shoehall, Eday. At the time of their marriage John was a shoemaker, but in later years he was described as a crofter. Ann died at Shoehall on 29th January 1907, and John died there on 2nd August 1922, age 91. They are buried in the old Eday kirkyard:
