Introduction / Families / Drever

Isabella Drever and William Gullion

Isabella Drever (b. abt 1793) was the third of the children that are known to have been born to Thomas Drever and Ann Hourston. Around 1820, she married William Gullion. He was the son of George Gullion and Isabella Allan and born around 1801 in Westray. They had four children, all baptised in the parish of Eday and Pharay:

William and Isabella may have lived on Pharay for a number of years, as their daughters Mary and Isabella were born there. It is noted that William's aunt (his mother's sister, Marion Allan) had moved to Pharay with her husband James Harcus and family sometime between 1806 and 1809/10.

William and Isabella were on Eday for many years, at Newbigging and Benston Hall and later at Castles in Calfsound. William was a crofter. Isabella died at Castles, on 9th September 1872, age 79. William died there on 26th June 1884, age 83.
