Mary Reid and John Rendall

Mary Ann Linklater Reid (b. 23rd February 1867) was the third of the five children of Jean Gray and Charles Reid. She was twenty nine and staying with her parents at Millhouse when she married John Rendall (b. about 1872), the son of James Rendall and Betsy Rendall in 1897.

They had two sons:

• James Robert Rendall b. 24th August 1897 who married Williamina Foulis, the daughter of John Foulis and Margaret Schollay. They had a daughter. James died at Brandies on 31st August 1965 at the age of sixty eight. Williamina died on 24th May 1984 at the age of eighty nine.

• Charles Rendall b. 9th December 1901 who married Christine Gray Stout, the daughter of John Stout and Catherine Harcus. They had family in Westray. Charles died at Roadmire on 8th July 1962 at the age of sixty. Christine died on 10th October 1989, aged eighty two.

In 1901, they were staying at Millhouse No 2, next Mary's parents. John's occupation is given as fisherman.

Mary Reid died at Roadmire of tuberculosis on 26th August 1929. She was sixty one. John Rendall died on 7th February 1955 at the age of eighty two.
