George Gray and Margaret Seatter

The Westray Grays in the census are almost all descended from George Gray and Margaret Seatter

Seven children are recorded in the IGI:

• Henry Gray b. 2nd February 1743

• Margaret Gray b. 21st November 1744

• George Gray b. 19th April 1747

• Mary Gray b. 22nd April 1750

• Catharine Gray b. 22nd April 1750

• Isobel Gray b. 7th July 1751

• Robert Gray b. 29th September 1754

There is a story that the Grays built the original house at Gretna Green in Westray. A grandson of George Gray and Margaret Seatter still lived at Gretna Green at the time of the 1841 and 1851 census.

There is no gravestone for George Gray and Margaret Seatter or at least none legible.
