Jane Rendall and Andrew Lawrence

Jane Rendall (b. 30^th November 1849) was a daughter of William Rendall and Marjorie Lennie. She was born while her father was still a farm servant at Skaill and appears with the family in the 1851 census there. The family were to move to Peatwall in the next few years.

Jane married Andrew Lawrence in Kirkwall on 30^th March 1876. A son, James Muir Lawrence, was born to Jane and Andrew at Vestry in Westray on 12^th January 1877. The record of the birth indicates that Andrew Lawrence was a surveyor with the Ordnance Survey.

Jane and her son were part of the family at Peatwall at the time of the 1881 census.

Jane remained at Peatwall until after the 1901 census. At that time, she is shown separately from the other households there. James had moved and was a farm servant at Skaill.

Jane Rendall died on 24^th August 1916. Her son, James Lawrence died on 24^th April 1940.
