Introduction / Barbara Allan / Westray Allans / John Allan and Margaret Bews / William AllanJohn Scott Allan and Euphemia HarcusJohn was born in the East Parish, Westray to William Allan and Ann Drever, and was baptised on 10th August 1821. He married Euphemia Harcus on 27th February 1841. She also was baptised on Westray, 9th February 1821, the daughter of Jerome Harcus and Jean Hewison. John and Euphemia had five children:
- Jean (Jane) Allan, c. 9th July 1844, who married James Mason, a distant cousin
- Anne Allan, c. 10th Feb 1848, who married in 1868 William Rendall. They had a son, also named William Rendall, b. about 1871. In 1891 and 1901 Anne was a widow living with her parents at Lochside. She died on 11th Nov 1924.
- Margaret Logie Allan, c. 6th July 1856, d. 22nd Mar 1861
- John Allan, b. 1861. Details are not known, but it is believed he has descendants in the US.
John and Euphemia lived at Links in the East Parish of Westray through the 1861 census and John was a fisherman in 1841. In 1871 and thereafter they were living at Lochside where John was a farmer of 20 acres in 1881. Euphemia died on 4th November 1905 at age 84 and John died on 13th December 1909 at age 91.
