Mary Gullion and John Hunter

Mary Gullion, the oldest child of Charles Gullion was born on 28th February 1853, probably near Fort Nisqually, Washington where Charles was working at the time. She moved with her family to Vancouver Island and married John Hunter who was born in Scotland on 1st March 1841. They had ten children, all born in B.C.:

  • Maggie Hunter, b. abt 1869
  • Andrew Hunter, b. abt 1872, d. 3rd May 1887
  • Isabella Hunter, b. 14th Jan 1874
  • Mary Hunter, b. 12th May 1876
  • Agnes Hunter, b. 27th Nov 1878, d. 30th Mar 1890, age 11
  • Charles F. Hunter, b. 7th May 1880
  • John Hunter, b. 30th July 1883
  • William Hunter, b. 12th Feb 1888
  • Lucy E. Hunter, b. 12th Jan 1891
  • Andrew Hunter, b. 19th July 1893

John was an engine driver or a mechanical engineer for the New Vancouver Coal and Land Co. in Nanaimo. He died in Nanaimo on 20th December 1903. Mary died on 7th April 1915, also in Nanaimo.
