Thomas Drever and Margaret Garrioch

Thomas Drever was the fourth child of Thomas Drever and Christian Drever. He was baptised in Westray on 26th December 1818, before the family moved to Pharay. He was with the family on Pharay, being at Holland in both 1841 and 1851.

He moved to Southhouse in Eday with the family and married Margaret Garrioch (b. 25th July 1830) from Eday on 20th September 1860 at Upper Cott. This was at the home of Margaret’s parents, James Garrioch and Janet Shearer.

Thomas and Margaret formed one of the three households at Southhouse, Eday in 1861, the others being Thomas’s parents and brother John Drever with his wife and family. They moved into Kirkwall by the late 1860s and were living on Broad St in 1871.
