Christian Leslie and Jeremiah (Jerome) Stout

Christian Leslie (c. 21st August 1825) was the eldest daughter of George Leslie and Jean Hourston.

She married Jeremiah Stout (b. 15th November 1827 in Fair Isle) on 2nd December 1854. Jeremiah was the son of John Stout and Barbara Eunson.

They had three children who were born at Airy:

• Georgina Stout, born 12th October 1855 who married Robert Rendall

• John Stout, born 6th September 1857. John was a fisherman and died at East Gretnagreen on 17th September 1896.

• William Stout, born 20th February 1860 who married Mary Thomson Leslie

Christian and Jeremiah were at Airy in 1861, forming in separate household from Thomas Leslie, Christian’s brother, and his family.

By 1871, they were at nearby East Gretnagreen where Jeremiah farmed 20 acres.

Christian died there on 4th July 1901 and Jeremiah at Braeside on 18th December 1911, the home of their daughter in law, Mary Leslie. Their son, William Stout, had died the previous year.
