Introduction / Families / Drummond / William Drummond and Barbara Groat

Stewart Drummond and Jean Drever

Stewart Drummond (b. 20th September 1811) was a son of William Drummond and Barbara Groat.

He married Jean Drever (c. 30th August 1813) on 5th May 1835. She was the daughter of Thomas Drever and Christian Drever.

They were at Cott in 1841 forming a separate household from Stewart’s parents.

Jean’s parents were at Holland. They were from Westray, where Jean was born, and probably came to Pharay around 1818. They moved to Southhouse, Eday sometime between 1851 and 1861 and Stewart and Jean moved to Holland.

Stewart and Jean had four children:

  • Jean (Jane) Drummond, born 17th November 1838 who married Peter Hercus
  • Ann Drummond, born 10th September 1841 who married James Allan
  • Mary Drummond, born 12th November 1848. She died at Holland on 16th July 1862.

Stewart died at Holland on 24th December 1888.

Jean died at the Strynd in Kirkwall on 29th July 1898. She was eighty five. The informant was her son in law, James Allan, so she was likely to have been staying with her daughter, Ann Drummond, at the time.
