Annie Drummond

Annie Drummond (b. 24th April 1866) is the only child that is known to Robert Stobie Drummond and Janet Miller. She was born in Eday and would have been around three years old when the family emigrated to Racine, Wisconsin.

She was a schoolteacher but in poor health and went to Harriman, Tennessee to try to recuperate. Unfortunately she died there. She is interred in the Mound Cemetery, Racine.

An obituary appeared in the Racine Daily Journal of 25th May 1891

Several months ago Miss Annie Drummond, one of the most popular teachers at the Washington school was obliged to resign on account of failing health. She departed for Harriman, Tenn., with hopes of regaining her health and for a time appeared to improve, but a few days ago her condition became critical and Friday her father departed for her bedside. Yesterday a message was received that the young lady was dead and that her body would arrive here for burial to-day. Miss Drummond was 23 years of age, very quiet and reserved, but beloved and held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She was a graduate of the class of ’84 of the Racine High School and she was also a member of the First Baptist Church and a true Christian lady. Her death will be learned with sincere sorrow by her many friends. The funeral is announced for Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the First Baptist Church.
