Christina Gray and James Drever

Christina Gray, the daughter of Robert Gray and Christina Harcus married James Drever, also from Westray, on 16th November 1838. They were living at Langskaill in 1841 and moved to North Tuan where the stayed for there rest of their lives.

A daughter of James Drever, Barbara Drever, can be seen living with them in the census from 1841 to 1861. Her age would indicate that she was born around 1834 or 1835 and consequently cold be a child of a previous marriage of James.

Christina's father, Robert Gray, was also at North Tuan from the 1861 census following the death of this wife.

The servant was in fact a nephew of Christina Gray, who was to continue to live and farm at North Tuan and bring up his family there. George Drever was the son of Christina's sister, Ann Gray, who married Thomas Drever.

Christina was widowed by 1871 but continued to live at North Tuan with her father and nephew. She died at North Tuan in 1894 at the age of seventy five.
